The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a UK government grant helping homeowners replace fossil fuel heating with low-carbon alternatives.

Grant amounts

  • £7,500 — air source heat pump
  • £7,500 — ground source heat pump
  • £5,000 — biomass boiler

The grant is deducted from your installer's quote. No separate application needed.

Eligibility

  • Own the property in England or Wales
  • Replacing an existing fossil fuel system
  • Valid EPC with no outstanding insulation recommendations
  • Must use an MCS certified, BUS-registered installer
